Each year for Lent, I not only give something up , but I also challenge myself to do something. Either something that betters me as a person, or something that betters the people or world around me. This year I have chosen 40 days of gratitude. Throughout Lent I will send at least 1 message of gratitude per day to someone who I appreciate or has helped me, my students, or the world. It may not be much, but it makes me feel good to show my appreciation for others, and I sure hope that it will in some way brighten their day as well.
As some of you may know, a message to me doesn’t include an e-mail, I prefer handwritten notes (or faxes). I think there is something really special about taking the time to actually write someone a card or letter, there is beauty in peoples handwriting.
My first message of gratitude today is going out to an #SAchat rockstar who inspires me daily… @cindykane, be on the look out for a love letter headed your way. (And Happy Birthday)
I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. ~G.K. Chesterton

Beautiful timing.
We don’t often get personal corrspondence anymore. I pulled out some note cards the past two days and have sent them off to people. It reminds me of my LeaderShape GAG and writing notes for the facilitators. It feels good to put pen to paper, address an envelope and wait for a reaction.
Enjoy the process. Make it a good day.

I totally agree that a card/note is a beautiful way to let people know how grateful you are for their presence in your life!
Thanks for sharing!
some may say this notion is antiquated but I think it is simple and classy
I preach handwritten notes in networking/etiquette sessions all the time!
Of course you realize you just locked yourself into coming up with your list of your 40 favorite people… Good thing I like DMB so I don’t mind being #41
