My Perspective

by karupert on June 3, 2010

After reading many amazing blogs over the last year, I have been very intimidated to start my own. What if my insights aren’t good enough? What if I am not engaging? What if no one reads it? What if my writing isn’t eloquent? Then I realized that writing a blog was more for me, than for anyone who may read it. It is a place for perspective. In  Higher Education, I have found that there can be many perspectives on one topic, and this blog will be dedicated to just that, Perspective.

In my daily interactions with administrators and faculty from many different facets of education, I often times hear several different views on a singular topic. I have found that my listening skills pay off in this area, because I will listen at end to each persons perspective and then will form my own, but rarely will I share my specific perspective with the masses. This blog will give me a place to do that. A place to reflect on ideas, attitudes, and common trends.

Warning. Everything in this Blog will be simply MY PERSPECTIVE. Please feel free to disagree with anything I write, but know that I am writing not from a place of assumed expertise or authority, but simply from my opinion/ perspective.

Welcome to the blog world! Great intro to your blog and what you will discuss. I’m excited to see what else you share about your perspective on issues in higher education. Your a rock-solid professional – I pick that up on your responses, so don’t worry about the “good enough”. If they are coming from you – they’re more than good enough – they are valued and needed.

Way to go!!!

So proud of you for being willing to share your perspective with the world. You have an entire community already on Twitter who will help you cultivate your goals for your blog.

Don’t hesitate to ask for help and just write consistently!

Ditto the above comments. I have a sadly neglected blog for my professional ramblings… the hard part about blogging and advising is that sometimes you have times when you just don’t have an extra second to jot down your thoughts (or enough brain power to have extra thoughts)! Good luck on your venture… I look forward to reading!

I never would have known about your blog if you hadn’t posted on mine. I’m glad you did, because I’m glad to have found this one! I’ve added you to my Reader and I anxiously await your updates!
